Patricia Cavalier

Relationship-Based Care is a culture transformation model which improves every relationship within an organization. It is a model and operational framework that helps improve patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, quality and safety. It accomplishes this through the relationships and are created and maintained. There are three major relationships that Relationship-Based Care targets.

The first is the relationship between patients and caregivers. The Relationship-Based Care model teaches caregivers how to focus on their patient and change how they perceive their patient. They are able to create a strong and trusting relationship with the person they are caring for. This relationship is vital to the satisfaction of both the patient and the caregiver.

The second relationship is with the employee’s self. This culture encourages employees to care for themselves and reflect upon how they approach their career. This program teaches that relationships with others depend deeply on the relationship you have with yourself.

The third is the relationship among colleagues. It is vital for every member within an organization to work on maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships. Team members need to be able to communicate with each other and trust every person they work with.
